Meet Alex

We’ll be working closely together so it’s only fair you know a little more about me.

Hi! I’m Alex the founder, director and storyteller behind Maybe Later.

I founded Maybe Later to help people fall in love with storytelling and digital marketing again, to support teams with real purpose to get their messages heard and wrestle back control from social media platforms who are ultimately self-serving first.

Where did you get the name Maybe Later?

I live in the North East of England with my partner and our staffy Enda but I’m originally from South Africa; and that’s where the name Maybe Later comes from. The phrase is a British version of a popular saying from back home, “now now’, a common response when someone asks when you are going to get on and do those jobs that you’ve been putting off and aren’t actually going to do right now.

How would you use it in a sentence?

“Hey, when are you going to sort out those email marketing audience lists?”

“….now now” a.k.a Maybe Later (which we all know means probably never)

I love telling stories and am a total geek when it comes to understanding data and how it can help us build real relationships online. I’m not interested in helping businesses to make a fast buck, I’m here to support organisations and non-profits to tell their story in an authentic way and create real change.

It just so happens that email marketing is the best way to make long-term change! My background is in tech, and I’ve worked with cause-led organisations across the UK to help them embrace it and use it to save time, money and stress – freeing up teams to concentrate on what really matters.

Let’s talk about social media for a second.

Meta, Twitter, TikTok – they all want you to be online more, because you are the commodity that they are selling to advertisers. The more time you spend on the platform the more money they make.

Don’t get me wrong, you need really fricken good social media to grow your email community, but…

I want you to be online less.

When it is done well, and with a bit of leg-work at the start, email marketing allows you to have on-going, meaningful interactions with your audiences while you are off doing other things. Running the rest of your business, walking the dog, thinking, creating or, you know, generally being a badass and changing the world.

Speaking of being online less, outside of work you’ll find me at the coast or out exploring with Edna. I love my adopted home in the North East and we are always finding new people and places that make me proud to say that this is the place I call home..

My Purpose

I want to support non-profit organisations and teams with purpose to utilise the power of email strategy to save time, regain focus and achieve your goals.

Boring emails can get in the bin. You have great stories to tell and I’m here to help you tell them in a strategic way that will keep your audiences coming back for more.

Email is just one of the tools in your arsenal so let’s talk about your wider digital plans too.

Stop. Collaborate and listen.

I work with other experts so you can access a whole range of digital wizardry all under one roof. Depending on the size and scope of your project the Maybe Later community includes marketing freelancers, graphic designers, SEO experts and targeted advertising pros to bring it to life.
