Case Study: Building a Confident Course Launch Strategy

with Suzie Rees Fundraising

Overview

In October 2024, Suzie Rees, a fundraising expert preparing to launch her Trusts and Foundations Fundraising course, Trust Fundraising in a Box, reached out to work together on a more intentional email launch strategy. Like many founders, she wanted her emails to feel authentic and informative without being “too salesy”

Background and Challenge

Suzie wanted her audience to feel clear and confident about joining her course but was unsure if her emails were hitting the mark. To make sure her message was resonating, we set out to map her emails to each stage of the customer journey—making the information clear, supportive, and helpful, rather than “pushy.”

We kicked off with a 3-hour Zoom session, going over each email to find ways to make her message feel like a natural next step for her audience.

Strategic Approach

  1. Mapping the Customer Journey
Suzie sent her emails in advance, which I reviewed to see how each one lined up with her audience’s journey from interest to action. Together, we mapped each email to the journey points, so her message would feel aligned and relevant at every step.

  2. Refreshing Email Copy
In our session, we fine-tuned her email copy to make sure her audience had all the information they needed, with a tone that was genuine and inviting. We focused on answering key questions, addressing common concerns, and including a clear call to action that felt more like an invitation than a pitch.

  3. Creating Reusable Content
As we refined Suzie’s content, we designed it to be adaptable, ensuring she could reuse parts of the launch materials for future promotions, both in email and on LinkedIn. This created a lasting asset for her business, making her message go further.

Results

When Suzie launched her course, the sales started coming in. Her email series, combined with a free masterclass, helped her audience feel confident about the value of her course—and it showed in the early sign-ups.

“Before the session, I was worried about coming across too salesy, and I felt unsure about my email approach. The session helped me really understand email marketing, and now I have a clear plan for my emails. Alex is so easy to work with and has helped build my confidence massively.”

This is just the beginning for Suzie’s course promotion. With a structured and authentic email journey in place, she’s ready to build momentum over time and connect more deeply with her audience.
