How to run ADHD-friendly marketing projects

Here's the conundrum: to generate more income from email, you know you need help with your email marketing. But trying to make yet another marketing partner's project management style work for your brain sends shivers down your spine.

Successful projects aren't just down experience and expertise — it's how you run a project together. One of Maybe Later's guiding principles is to work in a way that supports the wellbeing of everyone involved, so our project management style is tight.

____

I developed my project management system to primarily work for me first. It was early in my freelance days (hello, autumn 2020), and I f*cked up with a client. I missed some instructions in an email thread, and they called me up on it.

After I recovered, I realised that I wasn't running projects in a way that supported my brain — so something needed to change.

I've tweaked my process over time to create a style of working that ultimately supports neurodiverse people and teams.

4 ways working with me is brain-first. 🧠 💚

1️⃣. Before we do any work together, I take the time to:

  • Figure out your learning style so you're never left with tools or resources that hurt your brain

  • Create a project timeline with you with clear deliverables so you're always aware of what's coming up.

2️⃣ . Expect clear, concise communication.

I reckon it's a combination of my own neurodiversity & South Africanness, but I'm a straight talker. You'll always be able to identify next steps, what's most important and deadlines.

  • All calendar invites are managed by me, and if we're working together for a longer period of time we'll have weekly 20min meetings so everyone is always on the same page.

  • You'll also get a dedicated Trello board (or another system if it's not accessible to you), where we manage all project feedback. No email threads ever!

3️⃣. We redefine success

Traditional ideas around what's "not respectful" (interruptions, daydreaming, avoiding eye contact) are not the default here. In my work, respect is all about helping you discover an approach to marketing and sales that feels sustainable, joyful, and authentic to you.

4️⃣. The process, plan and campaigns we create together are designed to succeed without you…

...but they'll do even better when you add to them in the weeks you have energy and ideas. ⚡️That matters because it means you're investing in marketing support that isn't reliable on you to make it happen.

Working with me is not only kind to your mind, but it frees up capacity so you can work/rest/play/read whilst knowing your community is receiving emails they'll love.

If you’re curious, I’ve got a user manual, too, where I share more about who I am and how I work.

Are you ready to bring new email energy to your work? ✨
