Sense

Sense is the UK’s leading charity supporting people with complex disabilities. Sense believe that everyone should be able to take part in life, no matter what their disability and their work has helped thousands of people with complex needs to communicate, experience the world and fulfill their attention.

“Since we've worked with Alex, it's like a weight has been lifted. With Alex on board, we've managed to hit a level of quality and consistency that have yielded stronger results than ever.

“Her fresh perspective on what we're trying to achieve is always valuable, and her agility in understanding sometimes incredibly nuanced topics makes her feel like an extension of the team.”

Adam Haworth, Digital Marketing Manager

The team at Sense are busy. They had identified that a focus on email marketing had the potential to drive donations, increase footfall to events and raise the bar when it came to campaign activity, but they just didn’t have the time to do it on their own.

Enter, Maybe Later.

A deep-dive into an existing weekly email plan showed where we could gain some momentum fast by developing a clear process of content deadlines and an easy to manage feedback loop so the team had the capacity and head-space to get everything written a week in advance. It became clear that email was sitting out on its own, feeling a little lonely and unloved, so a monthly content planning session was created to work in perfect harmony with existing marketing and communications activity. To free up the team to concentrate on running a busy charity, I have now become a satellite addition to the marketing team, creating at least one email per week using a mixture of content researched and created myself and incorporating live briefs from the Sense team.

In only twelve months of sending optimised emails, engagement as increased dramatically and the team have seen a direct impact on revenue, with thousands of pounds in additional income being traced back to strategic email fundraising appeals. The success of our work together has cemented an understanding of the power of email marketing across the organisation and prioritised it as a strategic communications and business priority.
